Sowore Urges Nigeria to Invest in Air Ambulance Services to Save Road Accident Victims

Omoyele Sowore, in a video shared on YouTube, called for the deployment of air ambulance helicopters to handle emergencies on major highways such as the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. He pointed out that during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Buhari’s son was involved in a motorcycle accident and was airlifted to Germany before dawn for medical treatment.

Sowore argued that the funds used for that overseas medical evacuation could have been invested in purchasing three or four helicopters to strengthen Nigeria’s emergency response system. According to him, Nigeria has more than enough resources to provide air ambulance services that would significantly reduce deaths from road accidents.

He stressed that emergency air transport should be treated as a national priority, adding that the country can afford to build and maintain such life-saving services if the right choices are made.
